Jordan's Japan Trip

Out alone

emad was very tired from last night so I decided to go out for a snack. I ended up at a bar that we had gone to before. I ordered a drink and by the time it arrived two locals yelled “kanpai!” to me. Basically cheers. So we drank and they kept buying me more drinks while we chatted. I only learned a litte Japanese and they only new a little English but we made it work. After 3 hours they had to head out. They would not let me pay at all desperate constantly saying they were poor,

I gave them candy at least and walked them back to the train. On my way home I ran into a group of drunk locals. I think I attract people by being a tall gaijin. Eventually the guys I. The group told me the were okay because the girl kept asking me more questions. I don’t understand wh they were weird about it since her parents were there. Still, it was a good night.

The day was good too. Emad and I got some shopping done. I’ll put up some pictures tomorrow.

For now

Since my friend has been cataloging our adventures fairly well, I will direct you to his blog until I have more to write on my wall

Last night

Last night was an awesome and weird night. Will update later.

Time for sleep

The flight was more than perfect when it came to getting us here on time. Not only did we not get delays, but we arrived 30min early!

After we arrived we figured out how to get the hotel and headed out. Once arriving in Ueno, we weren’t sure where to go so we asked an older local man. He proceeded to take us himself. Walked his bike alongside us and told us all about Ueno. When we told him we would go to Osaka, he made us promise that we would go to Hiroshima; both to pay our respects and to try the oyster.

Anyway the rest of the night we explored Shibuya. Will post pics and tell more later. Haven’t slept yet. Good night / morning

Waiting

Just got to our gate. Everything has gone smoothly so far. Chicago next then off to Japan.

Maple Sweets

In anticipation of revelling in a different world and culture, Emad and I decided to bring a little Canadian with us to Japan.  We bought a bunch of maples candies/syrup/cookies to give to locals that we meet.  I was debating getting ketchup chips too, but I don’t want the bag to pop on the way there.  Bacon doesn’t seem like a great idea either.

Japan Tomorrow

At the insistence of my friend Emad, with whom I’ll be spending the next 2 weeks with, I decided to begin a chronicle of my travels.
